Typhoon Pedring Forces Closure of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila

Earlier this week, Typhoon Pedring (international codename: Nesat) caused heavy downpours over Metro Manila that contributed to flooding in the downtown bay area.
High waves also spilled over from the Manila Bay into the grounds and lower level of the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, causing flooding and an interruption in power supply and telephone service.
While no injuries to guests or staff of the hotel were reported, all hotel guests were relocated to other hotels in the city and the hotel is temporarily closed until essential services and communications are reinstated.
The hotel has informed guests, who are holding room reservations for later this week to reschedule their trip or allow the hotel to make alternate arrangements for them.
